LAI wins contract to produce
armor kits for MRAP vehicles

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., March 12, 2008 -- LAI International, Inc., a strategic supplier of precision components and sub-assemblies for original equipment manufacturers, announced it has signed a manufacturing contract to produce critically needed armor kits for mine-resistant ambush-protect military vehicles.
LAI received the contract from the armor supplier for Navistar Defense LLC, which has received an award from the Pentagon for 4,475 of its 21-foot-long MaxxPro MRAP vehicles. The armor kits are produced at LAI's manufacturing facility in Maryland and shipped directly to Navistar's International Military and Government assembly plant in West Point, Miss.
“As experienced providers of armor products, LAI performed flawlessly, smoothly handling the logistics and supply-chain management of this project,” Stewart Cramer, president of LAI, said. “This is a testament to the dedication the entire team at LAI to make the program a huge success.”
MRAP is a joint services program managed by the Department of the Navy and U.S. Marine Corps. A total of 11,941 MRAP vehicles have been ordered by the joint services from several manufacturers with many to be shipped to Iraq and Afghanistan, according to reports on the orders. MRAP’s distinctive V-shaped hull has been shown to deflect blasts caused by improvised explosive devices.
